Church Past & Present

Our Church

Covenant Presbyterian Church was founded in 1978, beginning as a home Bible Study in Sun City West. Members then began to gather for worship the following year, holding services in the Western Savings building. By 1981 Covenant was a fully functional church under the Presbyterian Church in America umbrella. Pastor Don Esty dedicated our present sanctuary in May 1987. The Esty Fellowship Hall was finished 5 years later.

Our church is located on a 3-acre campus at the intersection of Spanish Gardens and Aleppo Drive. We border Sun City Grand, Surprise, and Peoria. The complex was designed in the Spanish mission style; the 2 main buildings and surrounding grounds enhance the desert community. The sanctuary comfortably seats over 200 adults. The church is financially debt-free and excited about growth opportunities and promoting community outreach in Sun City West and Surprise and the surrounding area.

We are a reformed church with an active focus on equipping the saints through studying the Bible, missions and united church fellowship. Although we are located in a senior-oriented community, Covenant opens its doors and heart to the multi-generational families around us, to embrace them with the depth of love and discipleship present in our own Christian walk.
